Research

My research in this area examines political identities, ideological divides, partisan sorting, and affective polarization in European societies. The focus is on understanding how political attitudes are structured, how they change over time, and what social factors drive increasing polarisation in contemporary democracies.

This strand of my research investigates conventional and unconventional forms of political engagement, including voting, party membership, protest, and digital activism, as well as attitudes toward democratic institutions, political trust, and civic norms across European societies.

Using large-scale cross-national surveys (ESS, EVS, ISSP), I examine the structure and dynamics of public opinion, value orientations, postmaterialist shifts, and attitudinal change across European societies over time.

My research in health sociology addresses the social determinants of health behaviour, with particular attention to vaccine hesitancy, trust in medical institutions, and the role of social values, media consumption, and political identity in shaping attitudes toward vaccination.

This area of my research investigates young people's political socialisation, civic values, and participation in public life. I draw on national and comparative data to explore how younger generations differ from older cohorts in their political attitudes, social values, and civic engagement.

My research in environmental sociology examines ecological values, climate change concern, and the social, political, and cultural factors that shape pro-environmental attitudes and behaviour in comparative perspective.

This area focuses on formal and informal volunteering, associational membership, and cultural participation as dimensions of civil society engagement. I explore sociodemographic predictors of volunteering and cultural activity in Slovenia and cross-nationally.

My research is grounded in rigorous quantitative methodology, including structural equation modelling, multilevel analysis, and secondary analysis of major survey programmes. I draw on ESS, EVS, ISSP, and other large-scale international datasets to examine cross-national and longitudinal patterns.
